How to separate the anodic alumina from the underlying aluminum substrate

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am looking for a method that can easily separate the anodized alumina from the underlying aluminum substrate. I have heard that "reverse the polarity of the cell" can achieve the goal. However, I am wondering whether this will work and how fast the process will be. I am currently using Hg2Cl2 to remove the aluminum. This process is nasty and time consuming.

Your suggestion is highly appreciated.
