Antique tarnished brass bed 

Hi:

My question/issue is comparable to the sample question from Wayne Bowers of Melbourne, FL (letter 11385).

My old, old brass bed is tarnished and dirty looking. What can I do to clean it up to look "real smart". How about just plain soap and water to start with...?
