-----Proper use of Aluminum Association Designation for Finishes
When using the Aluminum Association designation for finishes, is it proper to have both a non-etched and etched designation on a single specification? For example, is AA-M32C11C22A31 a valid spec? Isn't the "C11" designation redundant? If you specify an etched finish, the part needs to be cleaned anyways. Are there situations where I would like to specify both? The way I understand the designation, you either specify a non-etched or etched finish but not both.

You cannot have it both ways, you are correct. Because its technically not possible to etch, while not etching.
