Finishing of Automotive Oil Filters

-----

I'm looking for an alternative coating for oil filters for the automotive market. We currently use an epoxy powder coating but don't really need this much protection. Is there a new technology out there that is more cost effective and still environmentally friendly? Maybe a plating of some sort? Thirty hours salt spray would be adequate. Needs to be compatible with dry offset printing and esthetically pleasing.   Any suggestions or references would be greatly appreciated.

Plating is almost always more expensive than painting, and usually less environmentally friendly.

Have you considered using pre-finished metal? I am not sure that the unpainted edges would pass the salt spray test, or that you you can form your particular part without damage, but this would probably be the least expensive solution to your quandary.
