Why don't you just post my darned question?!

Nearly every public newsgroup and message board is eventually destroyed by the fact that a hundred people will post a question for each person who answers one well.

Suppose a question has been asked and well answered several times, but we then have more people post the same question? The person who answered it the first few times has been treated thanklessly, the site operators who post the Q&As are frustrated, the inquirer will be annoyed because this time it will remain unanswered, and the readers will be disserved by having to wade through unanswered questions looking to find the earlier times that the same question was answered.

Finishing.com has survived for 15 years because we work very hard (but with limited success) toward avoiding that problem. Sometimes it makes us look rude, and we apologize for that.

With more than 45,000 metal finishing questions posted, please read our FAQs, which address many common finishing issues, and search the site for similar questions.

If your question is on one of the following issues, please add it on to the end of a related question that didn't quite answer it. We can't start new threads on these subjects already beaten to death by being answered dozens of times:

Brass beds - Darkening shiny brass or lightening dark brass - Cast iron stoves

Cleaning coins - Polishing motorcycles, campers, and wheels

Recovering silver from hypo or film - Recycling/recovering metals from electronics

White gold ring problems

Thanks for your patience and understanding!
