Zinc vs nickel plating

Sir,

I am a student of mechanical engineering, and you know better the criticality of the aspect 'surface finish'these days. Regarding this I want to know the difference between WHITE ZINK PLATING and NICKEL PLATING with respect to 1) finish 2)durability 3)cost 4)dimentional variation.
