Need Bright Dip Mix
+
I have an anodizing business and would like to set up a bright dip
tank. Is there a proprietary bright dip available? If not, I will get
a bright dip mixed. Could anyone please give me the acids used and
their mixing ratio?
Thank you - Kind Regards

Dear Steve,
Here the information for bright dipping processes on Aluminium.
There are several bright dipping processes for aluminium:
- a) chemical bright dipping process with nitric acid.
- b) chemical bright dipping process without nitric acid for
satin finish.
- c) electrolytic bright dipping processes without chromic acid.
And the ratio ( the amount of nitric acid ) is hanging up from the
companies processes.
If you decide to use nitric acid, be also careful with the
ventilation.

YOU COULD TRY THE FOLLOWING BRIGHT DIP FOR ALUMINIUM:
ORTHO PHOSPHORIC ACID 87 % BY VOLUME
SULFURIC ACID 7% BY VOL
NITRIC ACID 6% BY VOL
THIS SOL WORKS FOR BOTH DIP AND ELECROLITIC PROCESS THE DIFF TEMP
ARE REQUIRED THOUGH DIPPING TEMP SHOULD BE 85 - 90 DEG CENTIGRADE
ELECTROLYTIC PROCESS TEMP 45 DEG CENT CURRENT DENSITY 150AMP/SQ FT
VOLTAGE REQ WD BE ABT 20 VOLTS
