Antiquing shiny, polished brass sheet

+

Hello.

We need to find a simple way to "antique" or make slightly brown brass sheet. We do not want the shiny, polish finish. This finish must remain permanent.

Thank you.

Dear M. Weisbeck,

If you want something semi-permanent, you can try PVD, maybe look up Baldwin Brass. If the brass is going outside, I can assure you that nothing will be permanent. You can oxidize the brass and clear coat it, but will need to refinish it occasionaly. If you don't want a high gloss, get a flat lacquer. Or you can put a dyed lacquer over it and save the step of oxidizing. Either way, you'll need to refinish.

Good luck,
