Hard chrome pitting

We are having difficulty with excessive pitting on hard chrome. Bath is chromic acid (228 gm/litre CRO3. Plating current is 2-3 amps per square inch.

Hi Mike.

A lot of thing can make nodules/pitting in chrome plating. Bad treatment, low catalyst, high trivalent chrome, too long time etching, high or low ratio, magnetic, contamination, bad material and bad machining. How is the parts hanging in the racks?
