The purpose of this titration is to determine when to dump the sulfuric acid bath. I am looking for a titration to determine iron concentrations in the grams per liter range and we would expect to dump the bath at approximately 15 grams/Liter.

A good titration procedure can be found in " ASM Handbook" Volume 5: Surface Engineering. Look for references that deal with pickling or descaling.

There are two methods, based on permangenate and dichromate respectively, given in Analysis of Electroplating and Related Solutions [link is to book info at Amazon]

I have a similar question regarding the determination of iron in an hydrochloric acid bath. We are looking to find a simple titration that would allow us to measure iron in the range of .5 grams and 10 grams per liter.
Thanks.
