Heat Drop - 12L14

.

We perform a quick anneal (induction heater) on 0.515" 12L14material which allows us to perform some severe bends on the product.Trying to determine time for temp drop from 1100 F to below criticaltemp where we can force cool. Any suggestions ?

.

1100F is below the critical phase transformation temperatures forthis steel. If you are heating the material only to 1100F, coolingrate will not be critical to formability. If you are heating above1400F, then a slow cooling rate to around 1000 to 1100 will berequired to avoid transformation to a hard martensite phase.
