Kickstand plating

.

I have a friend who has had a problem with the kickstand on his Harley . It seems that he has rechromed it many times but the chrome peels off at the foot due to wear and tear. He would like to dip it in some kind of Teflon or hard plastic that would stand up to being a kickstand. I know there is a scooter buff out there that can help him out. I live in Iowa and if anyone knows of a place where he can have this done or has a better idea please let me know. Geo

Many nice things can be said about Teflon and hard plastic coatings. But that "they can outwear chrome plating" is NOT one of them!

Conceptually, your friend has already identified the best coating for his kickstand: chrome plating. What he apparently has not found yet is a shop that properly prepares his kickstand for plating. He should not be able to knock the chrome off with a hammer!
