Nickel plated aluminium to reduce surface roughness?

October 16, 2009

I have a client who uses aluminium tanks for hairspray and similar things. My competitor has offered to sell them coated internally with ptfe so the the liquid can't stick to the surface and the tanks are emptied totally. Now I'm blocked because I can't offer the same thing. The different types of liquids are quite aggressive. Would nickel plating the give the same effect (I'm thinking of low roughness)? If yes, what's the possibility that nickel plating flake off? Is there other process I could offer that would give the same benefit of PTFE coating I can offer?

Hi, Claudia. Electroless nickel is glass-like and corrosion resistant, and might be ideal. If done right, it won't peel.
