Aluminum Bright Dip (R5) Source Needed

August 3, 2009

For years our firm offered bright dipping of aluminum using Alcoa's R5 phosphoric/acetic/nitric acid process, however, it always emitted an orange cloud of nitrous fumes upon removing parts from the bright dip. As the work requiring this dropped off, we choose to no longer offer the process, however, there are still spare parts that occasionally require this legacy process and the customer refuses to change the drawing callout to something more eco-friendly such as electropolish. Is there anyone out there still offering chemical bright dipping of aluminum and would they be open to taking on a couple of sporadic jobs now and then from Anoplate?
