Want to build up porous sulphamate nickel shells

April 28, 2009

Dear all,

Does any one know of any surfactant that by varying its content on a sulphamate nickel bath, would allow us to produce a variable density porous nickel-shell?
All inputs you may add to this question or subject, are more than welcomed!

Thanks in advance for your help.

At first glance, I would say no. There may be some circumstances where it would plate a rough columnar plate vs a laminar one that most people want.
Possibly Ted could ring up a regular contributor, Don Baudrand, and get his opinion. As far as I know, he is probably the most knowledgeable person on the subject at this site and possibly the USA.

There are several patents that claim to do that, so, check before you get into forbiden territory.
