Sludge problem in anodizing line

January 24, 2009

We are an anodizing company in Turkey and we have a problem to dispose the sludge which occurs in the waste water treatment plant. We give them to a company which says they are burning but it costs a lot of money every month to us which makes us incompetitive. Could you please tell us what can be the other possibilities for this sludge to be done? In the sludge there are no heavy metals (no Nickel and Sn).

I am aware of two ways the aluminum hydroxide sludge may be recycled. First if you mix it with spent anodize solution you will have alum which is used as a floculant for treating water. Also it has been used a an aluminum source plants making aluminum metal.
