Spec for Hot tin dip?

September 23, 2008

We receive copper strip in that is plated with tin. I needed to know the tin finish specification our supplier used so we could add it to our internal drawings. After contacting the manufaturer of the copper strip, they informed me they didn't know exactly what spec is used. They said it is a hot tin dipping process, used mostly for protection of the copper during storage. I've done a little research on my own, but this is not my area of expertise. I've looked in ASTM B545 but it's kind of confusing as to what type I'm looking for or if I'm even looking in the right place to begin with. The copper strip is .005" thick and is CDA102. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
