Electroless plating Ni/Au on Aluminum

.

Hi, We are planning to use electroless plating to deposit very thin Ni/Au on aluminum pads to make them bondable. It will be greatly appreciated if anyone can provide me any information about this process ...

Thanks. Sincerely, Bin Liu

Hey Bin, This could work if the base metal is smooth enough.

Virtually all electroless nickel plating in America is done from proprietary formulations that have required years of research to develop, Ramin, so no one can give you those formulations. Instead you must purchase them from the suppliers who have invested those years of work.

But information about the generalities can be found in Electroless Plating - Fundamentals & Applications by Mallory & Hajdu, Chemical (Electroless) Nickel Plating, by G.G. Gawrilov, and Electroless Nickel Plating by Wolfgang Riedel. Good luck with your project!

Hi Fred,

How about plating Ni/Au inside of the 10-24UNC-2B Tap hole (6061-H32 Aluminum material)? Would that work?

Thanks,
