Alodine 1200 as a substitute for Anodize
when reworking
June 11, 2008
We are in doubt about the application of Alodine 1200 to reworked
aluminum parts. We are not sure if it will protect the part agains
corrosion.
Normally the parts are anodized, but during a rework it is not cost
effective to re-apply the anodize coating.
Is there any other method we can improve the corrosion resistance of
the parts still using Alodine 1200?
Please, let me know if anyone has experienced any corrosion problem
using Alodine in reworked surfaces.
Thank you in advance.

A number of specifications allow ("Alodine") chem film touch up of
anodized parts. Sometimes it is prohibited. It depends on the end use
and the buyers purchase order/QC.
