Need to chrome plate a brass coated pot metal Harley eagle that sits in the sissy bar [Florida]

I purchased an antique Harley Davidson pot metal / brass plated eagle that is now showing wear and some nicks. There is an area below the eagle that contains a orange and black 'clear' plastic overlay on the words "HARLEY DAVIDSON". I would like to have the item chromed and still be able to save the plastic coating. If that is not possible the plastic can be sacrificed and I will figure how to restore that area after the entire part is chromed. Any help or advice on shops or techniques would be helpful.
