Chroming Defects

+++++++

I'm an ISO Coordinator in this company the producing knitting parts. I am handling quality improvement program at which currently working to reduce the defects in chroming process.

We're having a problem that is called white head - white color appears at the top of the part after chroming.For me I believe it would not come from the setting of the parts in the chroming clamps or jigs. It may be caused by the setting of Voltage/Ampere/Chroming time.
What do you think it the cause of this white color?

Hi, Uzaimi. You call it "white head", but others might call it whitewash, or burning, or something else. We just don't have enough to go on. Is this a hard chroming process? Have you successfully plated them in the past? Can you send a picture?

Hi , if the parts are bright nickel , them flash chrome for a decorative finish , then the white marks could be caused by a break of contact of power during the flash chrome cycle , or burnt , or even because the chrome is too cold .

If the parts are hard chrome plated , you can sometimes get the white marks due to poor jigging contact - too much heat being generated at the point where the jig and component meet .
