Need to waterproof my chrome table and chairs [Texas]

August 8, 2007

I need to waterproof the chrome legs on my fifities table and chair set so I can use it on my covered front porch. It will be out of direct rain but will still get moisture just from being outside. Do you know of any product I can use to keep it from rusting?

You needn't waterproof a chrome truck bumper -- chrome plating can be that good. But chrome plating that is designed for interior use, as in a kitchen table, won't be that good. I think your best bet is regular waxing.

Hi there Mika,
I have a product called SHARKHIDE metal protectant. We currently use it on all types of metals as well as to protect chrome finishes like yours. Its a single step, wipe on chemical that will dry in sixty to ninety seconds. You will want to simply wipe a new coat over the old one once every couple of years to maintain the protection. You can see some more details by following the link.
Please feel free to call if you have any questions.
Good luck,
