How to anodize parts made of aluminium alloy 2024 to 25 microns (one mil)?
What is the bath composition, bath temperature, current density and duration?

Hello, Erol. 2024 is quite difficult to hard anodize or anodize to 25 microns, but it has been the subject of at least a dozen letters here already. So if you use the search engine to look for "hard anodize 2024" you'll get some good insights into the issue.

The thing is that our readers readily share how to do the easy things, but when you get into the difficult stuff like hardcoating 2024, they naturally hold their successful techniques as proprietary. The operational info that you've requested can be found in letter 11365, but it's a long trip from making up the bath to successfully hardcoating 2024. It's probable that pulse rectification, additions of oxalic acid, and extraordinarily good agitation will be part of the solution -- information which I can afford to share because I don't know how to do it :-)
