Student needs help quantifying corrosion development

+++++++

Hello,
I'm a french student and I have to qualify and quantify the development of the corrosion process on simple square samples (50 mm x 50 mm x 2,5 mm) of different materials (A2 and HSLA). The experiment is set up in a conventional salt spray room.
I already use the corrosion rate (mm/year) and the visual developpment of uniform corrosion on the surface. Is there any other tool or rate to quantify and qualify the development of corrosion. Thank you for your help.

I think you should try to get some U.S. mil specs, which are available free (see our FAQ), in order to understand the concensus that people have come to as to what constitutes acceptable resistance vs. unacceptable corrosion of different products. That way your efforts will relate not just to measuring the corrosion but understanding how others measure it, and its significance for practical applications. Good luck.
