Rough estimate on the cost difference between Cadmium plating and Zinc Plating

+++++++

Trying to find a rough percentage difference between the cost to cadmium plate or zinc plate a 5 inch diameter x 12 inch long steel cylinder. Are we talking 2-5% or 10% or more cost increase for cadmium? Thanks.

Significantly more than that -- but don't do it!

Cadmium is a cumulative poison that must only be used when you NEED cadmium due to its unique combination of properties. And if you do need them, don't use zinc, it won't work. Years ago they were used pretty much interchangeably on hardware. Today it's very different.
