Copper plating

Hi

I need to know how to do some electroplating with copper sulfate [link is to product info at Amazon]. i have a metal key which i would like to plate. last time i used powder copper sulfate and water to make it a solution and used a strip of coper and a key tied to the - of the batty and the + to the copper strip but it was not good it was rough and like rusted can you help ps. my English is not too good i am srilankan iam in grade 9

Get help from the science teacher with adding a little bit of sulfuric acid. Then you must plate much slower by using a lower voltage battery.
