About PVDF paint for roofing
[Philippines]
November 16, 2006
I am in a company that uses prepainted roofing. I would like to
ask for the meaning of PVDF paint and how it differs with polyester
and other paints?

Hi Nicanor,
Paints are nearly never as good as the original 'solid' product
unless this is a 2 component paint ... like the 2 component Urethane,
which is expensive.
PVDF itself is extremely acid resistant and resists alkalines upto pH
l0.
The other thing you have to consider is UV resistance ... and I'm not
sure about PVDF but it is a less permeable material than fibreglass
and unless the roof panels were made of a thick frp (+ glass), it'd
probably last longer.
My background was in the 'solid' (never paints) thermoplastic
materials.
