Letter 42096
Cracked plastic chrome grill surround for
restored 1968 Buick Gran Sport needs repair [Ohio]
August 31, 2006
I am the original owner of a restored 1968 Buick Gran Sport 350
two-door hardtop midnight blue metalflake streamlined baby.
Recently, a mechanic replacing the engine's timing chain accidentally
cracked the grill surround, a chrome piece that looks like an
elongated inverted U that rests above the grill. (The original grill
surround was metal, but the damaged piece is plastic.)
I want to know where I can send the damaged piece for repair and
rechroming.
I ordered the car while working in Saigon in the spring of 1968 as
editor of the U.S. Army's First Infantry Division newspaper. The car
was waiting for me at a Buick dealership in Ohio when I returned home
in July, 1968.
