Powder paint removal from threaded weld nuts on sheet metal

++++++

We retap threads in weld nuts on sheet metal parts that have been powder painted because bolts break off in the painted holes. This leaves steel shavings on parts causing much paint scratches. What is best/cheapest method: to prevent paint in threaded holes with plugs or removal after paint with taps or brushes or is there other options?

++++++

Several vendors sell silicon pull plugs that are made especially for powder coating. Most will send you a sample of 10 - 20 plugs for you to try before you buy. They are reuseable for a while. easy in and easy out.

++++++

The best possible solution is to go for Silicon rubber bushes of suitable size(tapered).Just insert the same in the threaded hole after pretreatment process.Remove after baking.Whatever powder sticked on the bush will come off easily with gentle finger squeezing.Recycle the same for next lot.
