Fume scrubber for pickling plant [India]

How to estimate the air flow rate for fume scrubber sizing for a pickling tank of 8.5 kl.
I am working on an enquiry.

Depending on how well it can be enclosed, presence of drafts, whether push-pull ventilation can be applied, etc., typical numbers would be 100 to 250 CFM per square of tank surface. Try to find a copy of "Industrial Ventilation".

What Ted said about the Ventilation Manual makes sense.

To determine airflows, you have to present all data.

How wide is the tank?
How long is the tank?
What is the chemistry?
What is the operating temperature?
Is the tank against a wall?
Push-Pull?
Can part of that tank be blanked off?

The ventilation manual will ask those questions ! Then, it should tell you what type of hood to use ... thereafter one multiplies the given cfm by the area of the tank.
Depending upon the process, it will suggest airflows.

Simple, ain't it, eh? .... and then you might have to concern yourselves with the emissions ... which is ANOTHER story !!!!
