Want to gold finish emblem on Dad's car for science project

I am trying to figure out if i can learn to gold finish the letters, etc on my father's car as a science fair project. is there an easy way to do this? thanks joann

Hi, Joann. Yes, it's doable. But it may not be inexpensive enough for a science project.

You may prefer to zinc plate a penny or copper plate a quarter because that is easier and we tell you how in our FAQ: How Electroplating Works.

But if you really want to gold plate the emblem you need to strip the chrome off the emblem and then brush plate it with gold. The website's supporting advertiser "Gold Touch" used to have a video about this, and they may still. Good luck.
