Letter 4006 BUMPER PRIMING INFORMATION NEEDED- To whomever it may concern: My name is Kylie Anderson, and I am a student at Southview Middle school, in Mpls. Minn. In my 9th grade 'Tech 21' class, we have to make a model on how to prime a bumper for a car, without using our hands (so it must be opperated by a machine). I was wondering if you could email me back with basic information on car priming.if you could find the time, that would be great!!!!!!!! PLEASE A/S/A/P!!! I HAVE NO OTHER INFORMATION ON THIS SUBJECT. Thank you, Kylie Anderson - Mpls,Minn
- Kylie - The automated equipment necessary to do your project is the subject of a whole industry in finishing. Companies spend millions of $$ annually to prime automotive components. Sounds like your teacher is a little over the top -- without some Rube Goldberg type of robotic spraying mechanism. Good luck Dan Brewer
- Some priming is done by immersion in an electrocoating tank--so maybe the easiest thing to model would be to hang the car on string or wire to dip it in a little vat? You could probably do this easily enough with an erector set and water paints.
Dear Reader: please choose what you want to do--
