Letter 39033
Inspection of ZAMAK coated with Ni/Cr
[Egypt]
January 17, 2006
Hi all,
We are planning to manufacture some ZAMAK parts with nickel chrome,
the parts must have a good corrosion resistance and a lasting fine
shiny looking also.So we really needs to know what tests do we have
to do on the products to be sure that those 2 goals will be
met?
Some people have suggested
B-117 [link is to info about spec at TechStreet] or
CASS tests, are those the right tests we need?If
yes how can we do them?
Your respond would be greatly appreciated
Thank you.

Hi,
You need to specify more information.
As there are various zamak alloys (#3, #5, #7 etc), and are they
being rack plated or Barrel.
What is the end use, and any other specifications.

Dear Sridhar,
Thanks for your response.
We are intending to use ZAMAK #3,and they are intended to be Barrel
plated.
The end use is a cubic pivot part used for riveting the cover of
water cycle suite in the toilet.
The kind of test we need is a test that we can frequently run in the
factory.
