Heat Treat Coatings

Good morning,

I am looking for a coating that I can apply to a hard-edged band of steel (1/2" x 0.020" x 10').

This coating will need to be a Food Grade Rust Preventive.

The problems we have are two-fold. First, when we apply the oil (wiped on with a clean rag), there remains a lot of residue.

Second, when the band is ultimately wiped off for use, the oily material is black on the wiping rag....which the end-user feels is "dirty".

We have received multiple competitor samples, and their blades feel dry to the touch...which subequently when we wipe them, there is no residue.

Any thoughts?
