Heat Treat Coatings

+++++

Good morning,

I am looking for a coating that I can apply to a hard-edged band of steel (1/2" x 0.020" x 10').

This coating will need to be a Food Grade Rust Preventive.

The problems we have are two-fold. First, when we apply the oil (wiped on with a clean rag), there remains a lot of residue.

Second, when the band is ultimately wiped off for use, the oily material is black on the wiping rag....which the end-user feels is "dirty".

We have received multiple competitor samples, and their blades feel dry to the touch...which subequently when we wipe them, there is no residue.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, in advance!

I almost forgot...The material is a 1080 Carbon Steel.

Thanks!
