Gauge reader-most inexpensive and efficient for push and pull pickle line [Ontario]

Does anybody have any suggestions for a type of gauge reader that can be placed on a push and pull pickle line in order to acurately monitor strip steel ranging from 2mm (.080") to 12.5mm (.490").
