Data on metal migration through gold plate? [Rhode Island]

Is anyone aware of a source that would have information on the expected metal migration through various gold thicknesses of the usual substrate or underplate suspects (nickel, copper etc.) Specifically for decorative applications that generally have thin gold layers of 3 to 40 microinches.
