Powder Coating vs. Epoxy Painting
+++++
I have a quick question about the pros & cons of powder coating and epoxy paints. We are installing guards around a shaft in our underground potash mine. The area is very damp and highly corrosive (salt water). There is no UV or sunlight in the area and the ambient temp. is a stable 80 degrees. The guards also have a very high risk of being contacted with equipment and tools (chipped). Taking all of this into consideration, which would you suggest or what type of covering would be the most appealing for this situation.
Thank you very much for you help

I would recommend you to go in for powder coating as the coat has a better life and abrasion resistance as it is a harder coat. The limitation is that the guards will have to go through a the coating process including curing at 150 deg C.

The coating might not be as important in this case as what the guards are made of. A base material that won't corrode or easily damage with a mil-spec for the paint would probably give you what you want.
