Plating defect after crimping
+++++
Sir,
We have a common problem during the crimping of one of our components.The component is EN1A (yellow passivation) up to 13 microns. We notice a plating peel off at the crimped portion. The tool used for the crimping was highly polished and then checked but the improvement was not good enough. Could you please suggest us whether the white passivation or bleach passivation will be the solution.
The thickness at the crimping portion is 1 mm.

Hello Mr Venkat;
There are certain parameters which if maintained well should give you a ductile zinc deposit whilst plating. For this we should know which process was used for plating. Also if crimping can you not think about a lower thickness between 5 - 8 microns?

Mr Venkat,
Is the zinc peeling off the base metal.
Or is the chromate peeling off the zinc ?
Confirm this aspect visually first.
Solutions abound after this identification.
Which process do you use to plate zinc.
Alkaline. acid. cyanide ?
What process sequence do you follow ?
With replies to these queries I could help .

We also faced same issue in our product.
plating peeloff found in our sleeve during crimping process
Sleeve : Zinc blue (trivalent chemical 15~20 micron coating thickness) plated
Supplier plating process : 1. alkaline bath plating
2. acid bath plating
Kindly give your recommendation to avoid this problem
