Need help with scratches on matte finish
10K ring
+++++
I have a 10K white gold ring. It is polished on the ends but matte
finish in the middle. The matte finish is all scratched up and I've
had it only 4 months! Is there a way to polish the matte finish back?
Any suggestions?

A matte finish is what I like to refer to as a "soft" finish, not
too terribly reflective. Most matte finishes are done by bead/sand
blasting (at least on my work). You have a few choices, one get
someone to sandblast the part of your ring you want to have that
matte finish then get it rhodium plated (will keep the scratches away
a bit and keep the bright bits bright). Or you can have a jeweler
polish the matte part to a high shine. Either way I do suggest
getting the ring plated to protect it.
