Can aluminum carports be reinforced with galvanized braces [Florida]

Do to the hurricane damage in Florida there are many carports needing repair. I want to make them as strong as possiable in the event they get struck again. To accomplish this I want to reinforce some of the connecting parts with 1/8 inch thick galvanized metal plates and am concerened if there might be a problem with oxidation due to the two metals contacting each other.
