Can Kovar be anodized?

++++

I am looking for an Kovar finishing equivalent to aluminum anodize MIL-STD-8625 Type II, Class 2, Black. Is it possible to anodize Kovar? If so, is there any MIL specs I can reference?

Anodizing in common language means oxidizing. You can certainly anodize Kovar, but you will not get anything more than a few angstroms of a passive layer. Nothing to do with an aluminum anodizing. This passive layer cannot be dyed or colored in the way aluminum can. The only aproach would be to bond aluminum on top of the Kovar then anodize it.
