++++

Is chromium conversion on aluminum possible without using hexavalent chromium?

We currently send our aluminum and zinc diecasting through an conversion coating (both aluminum and zie). Our customer has informed us that no products will be accepted with hexavalent chromate after 2005. What would be an acceptable alternative. We chromate for corrosion protection and improved paint adhesion.

Yes , it is true. As per the regulation the cr+6 cannot be used after 31st July 2005. Instead you can use Cr+3 Trivalent Chrome plating.
