How do you get a satin chrome finish?

++++

I am restoring an old (1939) British motorcycle and a number of parts have what has been described to me as a satin or pearl chrome finish. It is smooth but dull chrome finish, "satin" describes it perfectly. Can someone tell me how to acheive this finish and perhaps what kind of platers use it so I can track down someone who can do this.

Many thanks for any replies,

Mirek Sharp
