Polishing galvanized pipe as decorative columns [Kentucky]

I am attempting to polish 6" galvanized culvert pipes as decorative columns and am hoping to achieve a chrome like finish that will be low maintenance. I have tried used mothers polish and am happy with results so far except that the pitted areas retain the black oxidation.

Any suggestions for a better way to get a chrome like finish and a lacquer that will protect it?
