Possible Coating to preserve gold-like finish on a watch

++++

I have a watch that has a goldlike color on the metal. It is a lovely watch, but not an expensive one. I am concerned that this goldlike coating will not last long.

Do you have any suggestions to use some sort of coating over the metal surface to preserve it.

Much thanks for your help.

There is no process that is practical for you to do. The 'gold' finish may actually be titanium nitride and may be quite durable, but it may be real gold and may be thin and short lived. You would need to visit the manufacturer's website and see what you can learn.
