Garnet is high iron. Okay for stainless steel prep? [Qatar]

I would like to know whether garnet shall be used for the surface preparation of stainless steel substrates as garnet is having IRON content of nearly 30%.

That depends on what the final use is. It will promote rusting, but if it is used in a dry atmosphere, it might not be a problem. aluminum oxide might be a better choice, but only if that surface is not welded (vaporizes and causes bubbles or pits). Carbide grit costs more, but typically lasts longer than all other grits, so is normally more cost effective. I do not like garnet in sandpaper, and you did not say how the garnet is to be used.
