antique look for maps

-

Hello, I'm from Brisbane and have purchased a new map of Captain Cook's voyage and would like to 'antique' it before framing i.e. ripped blackened edges and an old rustic look. How can I do this? I have heard there is a method using varnish, or placing it in the oven and spraying with water - I'm not game to try either method until I can find out what the result will be....any help would be much appreciated. Kind Regards
