Environment concerns regarding Nextel Velvet Coating

I specified Nextel Velvet Coating as finishing for one steel part. Just recently, I was informed indirectly that the vendor can not use Nextel anymore due to some environment regulations. Does anyone know any environment hazard Nextel possesses?
