Stripping NiP and Cu from Zinc Diecastings

-

We are having problems (parts are not properly coated) with electroless nickel plating of zinc diecast with an undercoat from cyanide copper baths. How is it possible to chemically strip the NiP/Cu layer system without attacking the zinc diecast base material.

Metalx, Inc., Lenoir, NC sells a stripper that removes nickel from copper and zinc die cast. I do not know if it will work on EN. It might if it were jumpstarted. They could tell you. I have not used this particular product, but I have used a different one of this family of B-9 strippers and it is the best of several that I tried. Nice people and a very small company.
