Restoring a sandblasted aluminum hull

++++

Dear Sir,

I have built a houseboat on an aluminum 10X30 barge. I had the hull sand blasted to remove a few layers of old paint. The hull now is a bare gray, I tried sanding with 80 grit and then 120 grit sand paper, and finished with an aluminum polishing compound. It looks okay in that one spot but it would take me several weeks to do the entire barge. Is there a rubbing compound or a chemical I could use to either smooth the metal or bring out some kind of shine?
